History of Milwaukee Power Tools

Milwaukee is an American tool manufacturer that originated in 1924 as the "Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation" in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the United States. The company was founded by A.F. Siebert, who realised the sales potential of the Hole-Shooter which he developed originally for Henry Ford at the end of World War I. Although Milwaukee was predominantly a tool repair company in the late 20s, over the course of the 30s, the company began using customer feedback, research and development to improve existing lines of tools in the industry. In World War II, due to the demands of power tools, Milwaukee's Hole-Shooters became vital and the United States Navy purchased many orders with the company. After this period, beginning in 1949, Milwaukee grew exponentially, producing over 500 models and 3,500+ accessories to date and became the first domestic power tool manufacturer with ISO 9000 certification in 1994. Today, Milwaukee manufactures its products across the United States, China and Europe. Through the course of the brand's lifetime, it has been sold to various Amstar in 1975, Merrill Lynch in 1986, Atlast Copco in1995 and Techtronic Industries in 2005.
